🔄 How Balance Sync Works

Logged in members' balances are automatically synchronized across all DirectSponsor sites using a file-based system. Here's what you need to know:

Automatic Synchronization

Your balance syncs automatically in these situations:

  • Every 2 minutes – Background timer saves your progress
  • When switching tabs – Balance is saved when you leave the page
  • When closing the page – Final save before exit
  • When returning to the site – Balance is refreshed from the server

Manual Sync Button

Click the 🔄 Sync button in the sidebar to manually refresh your balance:

  1. Saves any pending earnings to the server
  2. Waits 10 seconds for cross-site synchronization
  3. Refreshes your balance from the server

Note: You must be logged in to use manual sync.

How It Works Behind the Scenes

The system uses a simple but reliable architecture:

  • Local tracking – Your browser keeps a running total of earnings
  • File-based storage – Balance is saved to a file on the server
  • Syncthing sync – Files are synchronized across DirectSponsor sites
  • No database locks – Simple design works reliably even with slow connections

⚠️ Connection Issues

If you see a warning banner about sync failures:

  • Orange banner – Temporary connection issue. Your earnings are still being saved locally and will sync when reconnected.
  • Red banner – Multiple sync failures detected. Earning activities may be disabled until resolved. Click "Retry Now" to attempt reconnection.

Your earnings are never lost – they're saved locally and will sync once the connection is restored.

Guest Mode

If you're not logged in, your balance is stored only in your browser's local storage. To sync across sites and devices, please log in or create an account.

Why 10 Seconds?

When you manually sync, the system waits 10 seconds to allow Syncthing to propagate your balance file across all DirectSponsor sites. This ensures your balance is consistent everywhere.
